Sir Emeka Offor
Founder and chairman of the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation. Born 10th February, 1959 in Kafanchan, Kaduna State. A member of the Rotary Club of Oraifite, District 9142, and Rotary's largest individual donor to polio eradication on the African continent.
His work through the Foundation
Sir Emeka Offor founded the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation in 1994 and registered it under the Companies and Allied Matters Act in 2006. The Foundation runs six programmes in health, education and community empowerment, and he chairs it today.
His giving through Rotary International covers polio eradication, maternal and neonatal health, peace and conflict management, and basic education and literacy. Rotary describes him as the largest individual donor to polio eradication on the African continent, and a 2019 leadership gift of USD $250,000 helped inspire Rotary's first Peace Center in Africa, at Makerere University in Kampala.
In Nigeria, the Foundation's education work has run through a partnership with Books For Africa, its health work through rural medical consultations, hospital equipment and glaucoma research, and its community work through widows' cooperatives, housing and youth micro-finance.
